Sulman is an agricultural and applied economist with a strong commitment to implementing novel research techniques to shape sustainable policies for the agri-food sector. In 2023, he was recognised as the Best Collaborative Masters in Agricultural and Applied Economics (CMAAE) student in the CMAAE programme participated by eight major universities across East and Southern Africa. Earlier that year, he was also acknowledged as the second-best master’s student in the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Nairobi. Currently, Sulman serves in several roles within the academia and industry. He has been a Research Fellow at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) under the Agroecology Initiative between 2022 and 2024. In 2022, he was also appointed as a Teaching Assistant at the Department of Agricultural Economics of the University of Nairobi. Sulman has served as an Agroecological Systems and Research Analyst consultant at the International Center of Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF) between 2023 and 2024, and Research Associate consultant at the Alliance of Bioversity and CIAT (ABC) in 2024. Sulman currently serves as a Research Assistant at ABC and a FoodEDU Case Study Co-Facilitator for the American Heart Association. His research interests span production economics, econometrics, statistics, and quantitative modelling, with a special focus on sustainable agricultural technology adoption and innovation systems as avenues for food sovereignty, poverty alleviation and reversal of climate change effects.
